As I work my way through potential agents and the sort of works they express interest in representing, I can’t help but think that my chances would be much better if I’d written a historical romance about a Hispanic woman seeking love in 19th century England while having to deal with her eccentric and homosexual younger brother…

Make her French and in the 17th century and you’d have a best seller.
Would she be searching for any kind of lost treasure?
No. But maybe having the Templars involved wouldn’t be such a bad idea. Or the Illuminati. Everybody loves them the Illuminati.
