The Siege of Rome
August 14, 2007
For anyone who may be interested in a little further reading on Belisarius, HERE is a wonderful article I read in Military History several years ago. It neatly encapsulates the epic siege of Rome, in which the general defended the 12-mile circuit of city walls with a mere 5,000 men.

thanks for that link, Ihave bookmarked the sight to peruse at leisure when parts of my body aren’t revolting against the rest of me.
Austin loved it. He is becoming quite the Roman History buff (Who said that video games like Rome Total War don’t teach…….This game really piqued his interest on Roman History). Any good introductory books that you could think of?
Given Austin’s age, I’d recommend the “Men-at-Arms” books published by Osprey. They’re pretty brief reads, heavy on illustration and maps, but they are still pretty spot on. I have one for the Battle of Cannae that I pretty much kept by my side as a reference.
And Rome: Total War is nails.
