About a year ago, I had a chance to drive an E46 M3 at BMW’s Performance Center in South Carolina.  The thrill of throttling that car around a track and powering out of turns put to shame all but the hairiest moments of my offroading days.

And now, a new M3 is on the way, built off of the recently launched E92 3-Series coupe.  BMW introduced a "concept" of the car today at the Geneva Motor Show.

The wider fenders, power-domed hood, quad exhausts, and ultra-lightweight carbon fiber roof definitely up the aggression level from the 328i and 335i, but the really fun stuff is under the skin.

This new M3 is the first to rock a V8…a 4.0L, 420-horsepower V8, at that.  It is also rumored to be getting a nifty DSG gearbox similar to those Volkswagen and Audi have been putting in their rides.

If I only had a spare sixty grand lying around…

Who am I kidding?  Jamie’d never let me get one, anyway.
