Road Trip Day 6 – “I’ll Take ‘Presidents Houses Starting with the Letter M’ for $500, Alex”

July 19, 2006

We leave D.C. today to embark on a tour of monumental presidential mansions.  Literally the great trifecta – Mount Vernon, Monticello, and Montpelier.

From there, the rest of the day is a leisurely drive to Lexington, Virginia, where we are staying at the Stoneridge Inn.  Originally a plantation in the Shenendoah Valley, it is now a scenic bed and breakfast with what appears to be one kick-butt breakfast.

Of course, early in our search, I found another bed and breakfast where you could go hiking with llamas.  Like many other B&B’s, however, they for some reason have a minimum stay policy of two nights.  Kind of tough to maintain when you are on a road trip.

But…LLAMAS, for crying out loud!  In Virginia!

When I get home, I’m opening a B&B with aardvarks.
