You want to know why Ford is having problems in North America?

Take a look at their flagship car – the Five Hundred.

Pretty boring, huh?  Sure its safe, sure the gas mileage is pretty decent, but its also going up against the likes of the Chrysler 300 and the Toyota Avalon.  What is there to recommend it above those two competitors?  I don’t see much.

Now, take a look at this…

It’s no Aston Martin…but for your everyday, run of the mill sedan, I think the design’s pretty sleek.  Too bad we’re not likely to see it over here…this is a rendering of the next-generation Mondeo, the mid-size sedan Ford sells in Europe.

Maybe if Ford sold cars that attractive in North America, they wouldn’t have to cut thousands off the MSRP just to move them off the lots…

    Talk about exiting products.
    You’re right, those two cars already just dominate the incredibly boring, yet surprisingly bland, rent-a-car segment of the market.

    All jokes aside the European cars generally do have better styling and often have better fit and finish than the stuff yanks get
