The rumors have been flying for weeks now.  For much of that time, they were dismissed as impossible, something that would never happen.  They were rumors that have popped up now and then over the years, and that have always been smacked down and vehemently denied by all parties.

But over the weekend, something happened.  They began to firm up.  Details began to emerge.

And today, the bombshell hit when Apple CEO Steve Jobs took the stage at the Worldwide Developer Conference in San Franciso and revealed that the rumors were true.

Apple is transitioning to Intel processors.  By 2007, the entire Mac lineup, from iMacs to Powerbooks, will be running off of Pentium chips.

In the computer world this is just…huge.
