Not so Trusty

April 11, 2004

I keep all of my writing materials on my handy SanDisk 256 MB USB micro drive. It resides on my keychain, and goes everywhere with me. I copy its contents to my computer every so often, but by and large the SanDisk is the primary and most current storage device.

So you can imagine my panic this morning when I plugged it in, and my computer did not recognize it. The Windows Troubleshooting is, of course, helpful.

“Try reconnecting the device. If it still is not recognized, replace it.”

Yeah. Thanks.

In a panic, I took it to my desktop, which has an uncanny ability to read things that are not recognized, and managed to transfer over my most important files.

This means, happily, that I won’t have to retype almost all of Chapter VII, which I spent most of yesterday doing.
