Anybody Else Think…

March 31, 2004

that the economy is going to tank again?

I do.

Rising oil prices (which contributed heavily in 2000, along with the Y2K pointlessness and subsequent job cuts, to our slippery slope).

Overall poor attitude towards the economy (poor attitude=pessimism=less willingness to invest=tanking markets=slowdown in corporate spending=loss of more jobs=recession)

Still lagging job creation.

No fundamental change to the way we live or work to really drive a sustained period of economic growth and prosperity (20’s – mass production, automobiles – 50’s – suburbia – 80’s/90’s – computers, internet, cell phones, Crystal Pepsi).

Makes me nostalgic for the days of the dotcom boom and companies with names like GoofyLookingFlounder.com (they would likely sell fresh fish online, or something else equally pointless).

And by the way..i agree with you. I’ve been out the stock market since the dotcom burst…..and of course for awhile ther ei was smiling. now people are making money off the market again, but i’ve stood pat…it’s been painful…but i think it’s gunna go down hard again. never mind oil proces…wait till the next inevitable terrorist strike on US soil.

Yep, I’ll be playing it safe in financial services, gold, and oil interests for awhile.
